12/15/2004 Updated Payroll system for the 2005 Federal Tax Table.  Please contact us if your State Tax table has been updated.  FICA limit has been changed to $90,000.  The standard exception amount was raised to $3200.  Tax tables were adjusted for inflation with the annual table showing below.

12/14/2004 Fixed a problem that could cause appointments to show in gray when they were not supposed to when using the feature to show package appointments in gray.
12/14/2004 Fixed a problem with employee passwords for employees 256 and higher in number. 
12/09/2004 Fixed a problem that possibly could cause the Search in the appointment book to book out an unavailable room.
12/08/2004 Added Return Address Labels as a Report Type in the Mailing Reports section.  This will print 80 return address labels for the salon on a sheet of Avery 5267 compatible labels.  To print multiple sheets, simply choose how many pages you want to print after clicking the Print button on the report.
12/08/2004 Added the option to have all birthdays within the current month show up on the greeting schedule.  To turn this option on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File name box, type in APTSC0.DAY and click Create.  If you need help with these steps, please call us at 937-832-3969.
12/07/2004 Added a report to the Staffing Reports that shows the scheduled department staffing and another that shows the scheduled employee staffing.
12/06/2004 Fixed a problem that caused the Appointment Log to show the person that cancelled an appointment being the same person that booked it instead of showing the correct name.
12/06/2004 Changed the Date Range Pay In/Out to allow for deposits in excess of $9,999.99 in amount. Deposits were recorded incorrectly when $10,000 or more was recorded. This does not affect payroll, but does show incorrectly when using the Date Range Miscellaneous totals.
11/30/2004 Fixed a problem that could cause standing appointments not to update if the system was set up to update the standings from all computers.
11/26/2004 Fixed several Reports when selecting a new printer using Select Printer. The Top Customer Report showed the wrong number of Top Customers after the new printer was selected.  The Pre-Booking Report changed the information when selecting a different printer.

11/23/2004 Fixed a problem when listing an Employee Sales report the system would give an Find Index error under particular circumstances.

11/18/2004 Made sure that the date shows on the technical card section of the work tickets even if there is no information on the first line of the work ticket.
11/12/2004 Fixed a problem that could cause employee/greeting schedules to not show the information in the assistant column.
11/12/2004 Fixed a problem with booking in an assistant column.  While the appointment booked correctly, it didn't show up correctly on the final booking screen.

10/30/2004 Fixed the Close Day on certain screen resolutions the difference column was cutting off the cents.

10/27/2004 Fixed the Week View so that it no longer 'blanks out' when booking an appointment.
10/27/2004 Fixed the Make It Fit function when booking an appointment. The Book Out time from the previous customer was adding to the time of the current customer. 
10/27/2004 Adjusted the Close Day screen layout for various screen resolutions when entering the dollar figures.
10/27/2004 Added the ability to set the Scroll Bar Size in the appointment book. This will allow customers with touch screens to have a bigger scroll bar and those using a mouse may make the scroll bar smaller. A gray gap at the end of the appointment book has been removed with the appointment book now flush to the scroll bar. 
10/25/2004 Fixed a problem with the Company Information at the top of the report when changing printers. The company name showed correctly for the original printer, but after selecting a new printer it would show COMPANYNAME instead of the actual name.
10/25/2004 Expanded the State Tax ID to allow 15 digits for the ID. The previous limit of 10 characters did not work for Indiana.
10/25/2004 Fixed the Find Appointment to show properly not showing the rooms when doing a search.
10/25/2004 Added a new feature to be able to use a Gift Card for Customer Check In by scanning a current Gift Card the customer name is automatically found. This requires that the Customer Name be recorded when selling Gift Certificates by number.  To turn this option on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in GCNAM0.YES and click Create.  Please Note: GCNUM0.Yes must be set for this option to work correctly. 10/21/2004 Added the ability to have the tips not show on the receipts but still show on the credit card form.  To turn this option on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in NOTIP0 and click Delete. Then in the File Name box type in NOTIP0.REC and click Create.  If you need help with these steps, please call us at 937-832-3969.
10/21/2004 Fixed a problem with the System Agent that would allow multiple copies of The Spa/Salon Manager to be opened. This would cause the system to become locked in the morning after performing the system agent.
10/20/2004 Added the ability when using the Make it Fit option to ignore any Finish Time only. This will allow an appointment that normally would be booked Book Out 30 - Available 30 and Finish 30 to be booked in a single 15 minute slot.  To turn this option on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in APFIT0.NO and click Create File.  If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
10/20/2004 Added the ability to save the customer name when selling a Gift Certificate by number. The comment line is changed to Customer Name. This allows for a salon to search for a lost Gift Certificate number utilizing the name entered when the Gift Certificate was sold.   To turn this option on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in GCNAM0.YES and click Create File.  If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
10/18/2004 Added better support for different screen resolutions allowing the Main Tool Bar at the top to be expanded across the screen for high resolution monitors.
10/16/2004 Fixed the Intercom printing, it would lock and not allow you continue unless you pressed the ESC key.
10/15/2004 Added the ability to change the printer and have the report preview and print correctly.
10/13/2004 Added the ability to pull up the Volume Cost/Volume Retail reports for any date during the past year.  This will only begin working from the point you install this update on (meaning that you won't be able to pull up reports for what you had in stock at the end of 2003 using this change...only things that happen from the point the update is installed and on into the future).
10/13/2004 Added the ability to pull up a list of previous orders from the Inventory Change Report screen.
10/08/2004 Fixed a problem that could cause appointment in the assistant column to not show up on the screen.
10/07/2004 Added the ability to reprint receipts for miscellaneous transactions.
10/06/2004 Added the ability to put tips on to miscellaneous transactions such as gift certificates.  This should not be used, however, if you want the gift certificate to reflect that the customer has already paid for the tip.
10/06/2004 Made several fixes to the Correction section of the program.  Most of these were related to the way the tip, credit card, and correction screens interacted with each other.
10/06/2004 Turned the ability to set each computer with its own selection of employees back on.  It had been turned off since the release of Version 5 of the software.
10/05/2004 Fixed the appointment log after the 09/07/04 update the appointment log was not working. It now is back to normal.
10/05/2004 Added the ability to turn off selecting the printer that causes some reports to lock. Contact IBCS for setup if reports are locking.
10/04/2004 Fixed a problem that made multiple service appointments show the wrong starting time in the confirmation screen.
10/04/2004 Fixed a problem with tips causing the cash drawer to be short when utilizing the Credit Card processing. This only occurred when a tip was added on the credit card screen.
09/28/2004 Fixed a new problem with Version 5 of the software. When adding a service for another employee the system changed the booked service to the added employee instead of leaving it with the booked employee.
09/27/2004 Fixed a new problem with Version 5 of the software.  The productivity reports were not showing the hours available.
09/27/2004 Fixed a typo on the appointment maintenance screen.
09/27/2004 Put the employee number of the person currently logged in back on the appointment screen.
09/21/2004 Fixed a problem that caused the move to not work correctly for service numbers 100 and higher.

09/20/2004 Added an option to the Special Working Hours to allow you to have the Delete remove any special working hours that have already rolled onto the book.
09/20/2004 When printing intercoms the system showed an hourglass when trying to print. The correct pointer is now shown when printing intercoms.
09/17/2004 Fixed a problem that caused the service employees not to show on the receipt.
09/17/2004 Fixed a problem that caused the employee sales report for each employee to include sales for the last employee in the system (only affected customers on version 5 already).
09/17/2004 Fixed a problem that caused the employee's shown in the appointment book to change when printing employee schedules (only affected customers on version 5 already).

09/17/2004 Changed the Fit All Employees button on the Detail Level screen so that it counts assistant and service columns in its total number of columns to be shown.

09/15/2004 Added new feature when creating a new Service you can now select to allow the Service to be booked On-Line. Requires On-Line Booking.
09/11/2004 Added to the Appointment Book, when an appointment has a comment the time of the appointment is shown followed by the customer name and comment. It was only showing the customer name and comment after the 09/07/2004 update.
09/11/2004 Fixed the receipts showing the wrong employee name after updating to allow for employees over 199.
09/10/2004 Expanded the Inventory Bar Code Price List report to allow for longer inventory names.
09/10/2004 Fixed the Switch Employee Order broken by the 09/07/2004 update.
09/07/2004 Major new release of the Spa/Salon Manager utilizing many new features. A new Report Writer that allows searching of reports. The Report Writer had to be updated to work with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows 2003 Server. Do not update to Windows XP Service Pack 2  until you have performed this update. The appointment book now shows a red dot in the upper right corner to show the customer has a comment. When moving the mouse over the customer name the comment is automatically displayed. This release also removes the 199 employee maximum to 999 employees per salon. Please call for pricing, we have added capability to expand to 7999 employees. Please note, this is a large update of the software and may require 30 to 90 minutes to complete depending on the size of your business.  Please allow ample time to complete the update.  Due to the nature of this update the software will not be compatible with the DOS program The Salon Manager.  Please do not install any previous updates after installing this update due to the changes in the software the old updates are not compatible. Please note: Switch Employee Order does not work in this version. If you use Switch Employee Order, please wait until this feature is corrected.
09/02/2004 Fixed a problem with the Mailing Reports when sending to all customers who had purchased a specific retail item.
08/10/2004 Fixed the Date Range Comparison Reports so that they allow you to cancel out once you're done.
08/10/2004 Fixed a problem that caused the ending hour for employees to be 15 minutes earlier than it should have been.  This only affects customers that have turned on the special working hour feature.
07/22/2004 Added new feature to the Appointment screen to show when a customer has a comment by showing a red square in the right corner of the appointment. Holding the mouse over the appointment will show the appointment comment.
07/16/2004 Corrected staffing so that it automatically rolls the scheduled employee/staffing information every time staffing is opened instead of only rolling when the scheduled change was first entered.
07/16/2004 Allowed the staffing section to automatically roll over the top of other staffing information as long as it was also entered as a scheduled employee/staffing change.  If you are using the staffing program at this point and wish to have the system use this feature, you'll need to call IBCS at 937-832-3969 to have your files updated for this feature.  Anyone that begins using staffing after this date will automatically have support for this built in.
07/14/2004 Added the ability to the staffing section to delete scheduled staffing requirements.
07/12/2004 Fixed a problem that caused inventory labels to print directly to the printer instead of coming up on the screen first.
07/09/2004 Added the option to show all items on the shortage report (even items that the salon is not short on).  To turn this option on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in INVSH0.ALL and click Create File.  If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
07/01/2004 Fixed a problem with the Employee Sales service breakdown did not match the actual sales totals when the Service Charge was subtracted from the service as a percentage. The report showed the correct amounts at the top of the report and only showed the wrong amount when a service charge was set and it was a percentage of the service dollars.
07/01/2004 Fixed a problem with the Retention Reports for people using more or less than the standard 90 days to return to the salon.  You will no longer get a warning that your ending date is too recent if the warning should not be coming up.
06/24/2004 Added the ability to put information into the time card for multiple days at once.  To turn this feature on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in TCARD0.ALL and click Create File.  If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
06/21/2004 Added the choice to now have receipt printing ignore the setup of the NOPAS0 file.  This means you can create the NOPAS0 file to have all reports go to the screen first instead of directly to the printer but have the receipt printing still go directly to the printer.  To turn this option on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in NOPAS0.EXR and click Create File. If you haven't created the NOPAS0 file, you can also type in NOPAS0 in the File Name box and click Create File.   If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
06/21/2004 Added new options to the Computer Info screen in Maintenance.  Receipt printers now give the options Epson Receipt Printer or Other Receipt Printer.  Both of these selections will allow you to choose the correct receipt printer from a list of all printers installed on your computer.  If you use one of standard options for receipt printer (ie do not use the Advanced button) you may also select Use Receipt Printer for your cash drawer choice.  This will allow you to automatically open the cash drawer hooked to the receipt printer as long as you know the correct settings to use (these settings are set automatically for Epson printers and are not needed if you are using the LPT1, COM1, COM2, COM3, or COM4 receipt printers).
06/14/2004 Added Education as a choice to the Time Card reports and reasons.
06/14/2004 Cleaned up some extra space at the bottom of all of our receipts.  Also added some new options to allow non-standard receipt printers to be set up with the system - choose Other Receipt Printer from the bottom of the list of receipt printers in the Maintenance -> Computer Info section.
06/11/2004 Added the ability to add words to your 'custom dictionary' so that the spell check program will no longer warn you that they are misspelled.
06/09/2004 Changed the program so that reserved names (NO,APPT, SCHED,OFF, etc.) no longer give a warning when booking if the names had No Shows in their profile.
06/08/2004 Fixed a problem when posting to QuickBooks, you could not access QuickBooks until you logged out of The Spa/Salon Manager.
06/08/2004 Added a new option to the right click choices in the appointment book - you can now use the right mouse button to go directly to a customer's profile.
06/07/2004 Fixed a problem that caused only the first page to print in reports when selecting All Pages.
06/04/2004 Fixed a problem that was causing the individual gross pay reports to not print out at all.
06/01/2004 Changed the blind count option added on April 2nd so that it now gives the option to use the blind count or not each time you print the report.
06/01/2004 Fixed a problem with Special Customer Booking Styles.  The second available and finish times did not save correctly, nor did the assistant booking times.
05/27/2004 Added the option to the mailing labels to have them sorted by zip code again (instead of by the customer's last name).  To turn this option on, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in MSORT0.ZIP and click Create File.  If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
05/26/2004 Cleaned up the Time Card reports screen and changed the titles on some of the reports to make them easier to understand.
05/24/2004 Fixed a calculation error in the payroll FUTA amount. When an employee exceeded the $7,000 maximum wage limit, the system calculated the FUTA tax 100 times greater than it should have been reported. If you have Internet access and pcAnywhere you may contact IBCS to correct your Date Range Reports for accurate payroll information. If you use an accountant for the FUTA tax calculations no correction is necessary, other than the updated Spa/Salon software CD.
05/21/2004 Added new feature to enhance all reports in the system. The system now allows reports to be searched by clicking on the binoculars when a report is showing. The search function works with multiple pages highlighting the desired information.
05/21/2004 Fixed the Payroll Unemployment Report when an employee number was reused the system did not show the employee that was no longer on payroll. This made the Unemployment Report show incorrect totals if the old employee worked during dates selected. The system has been corrected and those reports can be redone to verify accuracy to your current reports.
05/20/2004 Changed the receipt printing process so that people that have created a 'Start Receipt Printer' icon to run the com.bat program will no longer have to run it directly - the program will now automatically run the com.bat program before printing each receipt.
05/20/2004 Added the option to have the SpaSalon Manager program set the default printer in Windows.
05/20/2004 Fixed a problem with clicking on the starting time when adding standing appointments (instead of typing it in).
05/04/2004 Fixed a problem that caused email messages sent through the program to not have extra lines between paragraphs.
05/04/2004 Made a change to the program to make sure that no problems are caused by changing a name of a customer while checking them out through the appointment book.
04/12/2004 Added the ability to post accounting information to Quicken 2004. Intuit had changed the format of the import. 04/06/2004 Added the option to the HouseCalls confirmations to ignore certain services.  To turn this feature on, call IBCS at 937-832-3969.
04/06/2004 Created an option to turn the valid days option of booking styles off.  Turning this option off makes sense unless you have employees that work different departments on different days (ie doing hair services ONLY on Tuesdays and Thursdays with nail services ONLY on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays).  If your employees perform their entire selection of services every day it would definitely make sense to turn the valid days option off just to avoid the confusion and possible mistakes that it can cause if set up incorrectly.  To turn valid days in the booking styles off, go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in VALDY0.NO and click Create File.  If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
04/02/2004 Made a change so that it is now possible to move an appointment from one room to another without moving the actual appointment.  Before the change, it would leave the original room booked.  Now it correctly cancels the original room out and also leaves the employee's appointment column alone.
04/02/2004 Added the option to have the Actual Count not show up on the physical count report (ie to have employees do a blind count).  To turn this option on go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in BLIND0.CNT and click Create File.  If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
04/01/2004 Added support for SP200/212 using terminal services on a parallel receipt printer.
03/19/2004 Added extra control to the Custom Password option to allow the selection of specific Date Range reports for an employee to have access to.  In order to give partial access to Date Range Report options, the option that gives access to Date Range Reports must be taken away, and then the desired reports selected individually.
03/18/2004 Made some changes to the way Correction works with Tips Retained entries.
03/18/2004 Made sure that the Save button always appears when doing Pay In/Out transactions.
03/17/2004 Added the option to have a service automatically added to any retail only sales.  This will allow accurate tracking of retail averages for primarily retail based companies.  To turn this option on call us at 937-832-3969.
03/10/2004 Changed Inventory to automatically trim any spaces from the front or behind of the bar code when scanning an item into inventory. This should make it easier when entering new items, since it will not be critical to be at the left hand edge before scanning.
03/10/2004 Made a change for all computers running Windows XP/2000/NT that will remove the need to set up a printer through the Printers folder when installing a standard receipt printer.
03/10/2004 Added the option to the Utility screen to Save Time Zone Information and Restore Time Zone Information (once it has been saved).  This will make it easier for multi-terminal salons to make sure all of the computers are running on the same time zone.
03/10/2004 Fixed a problem that caused pictures taken on the Hair Technical Card screen to not be saved correctly.
03/02/2004 Fixed a problem with the special working hours.  When saving someone's regular working hours it would appear that everyone's hours were erased.  Logging out and logging back in would bring back everyone's working hours again.  The hours will not disappear temporarily when saving anymore.
02/25/2004 The Spa/Salon Manager will soon be able to post to QuickBooks. In preparation the needed installation program for Quickbooks 2002 and 2003 has been posted to our web site. To download the file, click on the following address http://www.spasalon.com/qbooks.exe and save the file to your computer. Once saved, click the file named QBooks.exe and the posting information will be saved to your computer. 
02/19/2004 Added Retail/Customer and Retail/Visit Averages to the Date Range Salon Information report.
02/10/2004 Fixed a problem that could cause the appointment log to show invalid information and/or break an appointment up into 15 minute slots instead of consolidating the appointment into one entry.
02/09/2004 Added a new button to the send email screen called "Send from File".  This button allows you to take a web page file (.htm or .html file) and send an exact copy of it out as your email.  This feature allows you to send email messages with functionality not included in the Spa/Salon email editor, such as tables, wrap-around text, etc.
02/02/2004 Added a new all-purpose employee tracking and report option to the program.  The name of the report and the information that are asked for would be filled in through Maintenance -> Tech Cards -> User Defined #2.  Once this option is set up, you will have a new button at the top of the screen with the name that you set up under maintenance.  Clicking this button will allow you to fill in information for whatever employee you select and the report will allow you to get any notes entered in for any employees over whatever time frame you'd like to see.  To turn this option on you will first want to set up the name of your new option as well as the fields to fill in by going to Maintenance -> Tech Cards -> User Defined #2.  Then go into Utility, then File Utilities.  Under the Directory section, click Salon.  In the File Name box, type in EMPTC0 and click Create File.  If you need help creating this file, please call us at 937-832-3969.
01/22/2004 *NOTE*  Fixed a W2 in Box #1, if a business used the deduction 401K the Box 1 amount has the 401K amount subtracted twice. Please rerun all W2's that have a 401K deduction.
01/22/2004 Changed the Add-On report so that appointments booked the same day with one employee that were already on the book with a different employee are count as booked instead of add-ons.
01/06/2004 Changed the lookup when clicking on Gift Certificate and entering a number the system would not always show the Gift Certificate amount at Customer Check Out.
